About Imagine’s project
Inspired from the lyrics of John Lennon’s song, Céline Marcato imagined her paradise. A block of concrete straight out of the ground, surrounded by huge bay windows offering a breathtaking view of the bay of Roquebrune Cap Martin and “only sky” above. They all went from Picasso to Matisse, from Chagall to Cocteau, from Le Corbusier to Eileen Gray; all were charmed by the special light of the blue gulf.
Collection
From Gio Ponti to Gino Sarfatti, Ico Parisi to Gabriella Crespi, Céline through the demanding eye of Justine brought together the most emblematic pieces of designers and architects. Today, there are more than 90 pieces of historic Italian design that Céline Marcato has consciously brought together in a chic and eclectic collection. We note an important private commission carried out by Gino Sarfatti, a chandelier decorated with 30 luminous glass spheres, a rare model 865 Ico Parisi living room, an exceptional vase by Fausto Melotti. But also an emerald green mirror from the 1930s by Carlo Scarpa, a smoked glass pendant lamp by Vittorio Zecchin or a historic floor lamp by Pietro Chiesa, a museum piece.
When she settled on the French Riviera, Céline did not lose her soul as a collector passionate about crafts and furniture. She invites Fernando & Humberto Campana to exhibit their Brazilian Baroque collection created in Rome on the Rock. This will be the first exhibition of the two brothers in the principality.
Johanna Grawunder, “the queen of light” will create various in-situ pieces such as the Mandala, a chandelier dominating the dining room installed above the Basoli table in Carrara marble. The V light wall lights with a radical shape reminiscent of the architecture of the villa and sensual thanks to the use of brass are a nod to the rays of the sun plunging into the blue sea. Francesco Santo Chirico, in homage to Gabriella Crespi, will design Cubi side tables reusing the removable pusher system. With extracts of natural stone referring to the village of Roquebrune “the brown rock”.
